Yes, to other pit-vipers. Similar to respratory infection in Ball Pythons.

I think a Red Bull snake is a subspecies and not a morph, and white-sided is a recessive morph. Therefore you would get bull/red bull crosses that were het for white sided.

What I believe to be OPMV.

I think that the male Coppehead that I bought at the Columbia show was infected with Ophidian Paramyxovirus (OPMV). This is a respratory infection type virus that will kill Pit-vipers in the matter of days even though the snakes look perfectly healthy. After he ate and I thought he was doing well, I put him in with the female sub-adult Copperhead who died yesterday from what seemed to be out of nowhere. Then today when I was checking the collection I found one of my baby Copperheads dead, which… Continue

Alittle late.. but here goes.

I am thankful for alot of things. My family and friends are just awesome for excepting what I do in the reptile world and are actually learing from what I do and talk alot about. Educating people about snakes who in the first place didn't like them is always a plus for any herper. Im thankful for having the oppurtunity to volunteer at the local exotic petshop pretty much any time I want (which is usually everyday), and this gives me the chance to learn about all the different species and also th… Continue

Just my luck..

Its just my luck that every time I feed the snakes that I never have a camera. Every one ate great except for a few venomous. The big Copperhead, the runt Copperhead, and the Cottonmouth. Hopefully next feeding day I have a camera so everyone can see the venomous eat.

Should we stay or should we grow??

My friend and I's colleciton has really exploded in the past few months. When we decided that we wanted to combine our personal collections into one, thats when it started. Now we have well over 20 animals (not all are snakes) and are getting into the hobby really well. Should we concentrate on the what we have or should we grow so we have more animals to breed when the time comes?? Thanks for opinions and advise!!

yeah, its not really the pain that gets me its just the fact that i'm not expecting it at all. like when i got bit by an emerald tree boa it didn't hurt but it was just so unexpected which freaked me out. lol.
