Those are awesome! I really like that converted cabinet, I might have to steal that idea in the future

Have you fed him? Think i remember reading that they do that to relieve pressures of a large meal. Don't quote me on that though :P

Ball pythons are usually good about letting go on their own, but if they decide that your finger is going to be their next meal there's a few things you can try. You can run them under cold water, if that doesn't work you can get some rubbing alco...

Wow. They really seem determined to destroy us. We cannot let them succeed.

I think a Red Bull snake is a subspecies and not a morph, and white-sided is a recessive morph. Therefore you would get bull/red bull crosses that were het for white sided.

A nice light normal :)

It depends entirely on what type of snakes you are keeping. Some species would drop dead at 85 ambient, some would need a hot spot. What species are you referring to?
November 22
That could have been seriously traumatizing hahaha
November 16
Yea that was pretty funny lol

The spurs/tail are HIGHLY unreliable on ball pythons and should never really be used as means of sexing. But that's surprising... I know we probe anything bought from us for free and only charge 5 bucks if it wasn't from us.

Could also try a fresh kill before going to F/T again

Don't go with Burmese Pythons first of all. They might not even be legal by the time you are breeding them and I doubt you have the space for a group of burms. I hear from a lot of breeders that the big money makers are not the high dollar snakes,...

Woah, I've never seen a patternless burm before. Pretty sweet

S373 aka The Python Ban- CALL IN!!!

S373 aka ‘The Python Ban’ will receive a Hearing before the Senate Environment & Public Works (EPW) Committee Chaired by Barbara Boxer (D-CA) on December 3, 2009. The bill sponsor is Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL). If passed as written it would Ban all snakes in the family Pythonidae, placing them on the Injurious Wildlife List of the Lacey Act. That is ALL 40 species of pythons! This action would stop all import, export and interstate transport. The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) ha… Continue

Lesson: Don't take your eyes off the Tegu! (Bite Pics)

So yesterday I was cleaning the Tegu Cage, took him out no problem. When I put him back in, he goes right into feeding mode. I turn my head for 1 second to shut the glass and WHAM! He's clamped onto my hand like a toothed vice. So everyone learn from my mistake. DONT TAKE YOUR EYES OFF THE TEGU! Even if he was being nice 5 seconds prior. I got lucky and rather than breaking bones he only scrunched my hand together really hard. I can tell you, with that bite pressure he could have snapped a finge… Continue

Mites SUCK

One of my Honduran milks was in shed, and has been soaking a lot. That's as normal as normal gets. But when I checked on her today, there were about 50 mites in her water dish :( I felt so bad for her. I was glad to see that none of my other snakes had any yet after soaking all of them, but they are all in the same rack so it was a matter of time. Luckily we had some Provent-a-mite at the shop so I got to spend the last 3 hours soaking snakes and nuking mites. I'm kind of baffled as to where the… Continue

Corn Snake Progeny Predictor. Cool Program!

This is a program that I came across a while ago that is very helpful with determining the outcomes of snake breeding. It is built around Corns but can be used for anything with simple recessive traits. This thing was really helpful while I was still learning about genetics and crossing morphs so I thought I'd share it.

Corn Snake Calculator

How to use:

1. Click link and open the ZIP file. This requires winrar or a… Continue

Camping Trip & Unintentional Herping

So my friend and I decided to go on an overnight camping trip, just to unwind a bit. We had a great time, besides me promptly slicing my finger wide open upon arrival. But about 5 minutes after unpacking I found a little Baby Garter Snake (I think a checkered garter). I wasn't expecting to see any herps at all so that was really exciting. Then later on we were hiking down a creek and on a stick in the middle of the creek was a little Arizona Treefrog. I got some pics with my phone that are actua… Continue
